Ford outlines a hybrid launch control system featuring a dual-clutch transmission and rear-wheel drive. Here’s the Scoop
Ford Motor Company filed the Hybrid Vehicle Launching Methods and System patent on April 22nd, 2019. It was published on May 24th, 2022. The patent describes a hybrid launch control system that will receive power from both the gas and electric motors. According to the patent claims, the hybrid launch control system will allow the electric motor to propel the vehicle while the gas engine is decoupled, increasing the torque transfer capacity of the clutch while accelerating the engine. In short, the engine, though a hybrid, will allow vehicles to launch at impressive speeds. Ford Authority noted that the patent seems to suggest that Ford has been experimenting with a hybrid Mustang. With this system, a hybrid Mustang has the potential for greatness. We are expecting a high-powered, fuel efficient force of nature with mind blowing launching capabilities to make its way into the Blue Oval lineup in the near future. A recent study on EVs performed by a team at the University of Michigan and Ford Motor Company found that pickup trucks have shown greater greenhouse gas emissions than other light-duty vehicles. The study found that when you replace an internal combustion engine pickup with one that has an electric battery, this results in a total reduction of 74 metric tons of carbon dioxide over the lifetime of the vehicle. In addition to offering an impressive reduction of greenhouse gasses, the Ford F-150 Lighting does not sacrifice an ounce of strength. Even with an all-electric powertrain, the truck can still tow up to 10,000 lbs. with the Extended Range battery and haul up to 2,000 lbs. with the Standard Range battery. Multiple Bronco Raptor prototypes have been spotted on the streets by the spies at Ford Authority. In September 2021, Ford Media Center posted a 17-second long teaser video announcing this special edition Ford that will be coming in 2022. No specific details about the Bronco Raptor have been confirmed, but experts have speculated what features this new Ford SUV will bring. Similar to other Raptor models, the Bronco Raptor is a wider version of the classic Ford Bronco. According to Ford Authority, the Bronco Raptor will likely run on Ford’s new 3.0L EcoBoost V6 engine and potentially produce 400 horsepower and 415 lb. ft. of torque. The new Raptor will also feature Fox Live Valve shock technology, Ford F-150 Bronco-like 17-in wheels, and LT315/70R17 BFGoodrich KO2 All-Terrain T/A tires. The Bronco Raptor will thrive off-road with its higher ground clearance.
