A Fully Charged Future
If you have an EV, we’ve got some good news. Running on low battery will no longer be a concern to you! The quality of your charge is about to get a lot better, and the ability to find a charging station is going to become a lot easier. By partnering up with Tesla, there will be over 12,000 Tesla Supercharging stations across the country in addition to the existing 10,000 BlueOval Charge Networks by Spring 2024. Not to mention the other 84,000 BlueOval Charge Network chargers that are sprawled out across all of North America. Early next year, Ford plans to have 1,800 public-facing fast-chargers added to the network. The increase in the sales of Ford electric vehicles shows no signs of slowing, and Ford has big plans to increase the quality of EV charging services. In addition to this Tesla partnership, Ford has also joined the U.S. Joint Office of Energy and Transportation to form the progressive National Charging Consortium. This innovative organization is working to improve upon the overall user experience for the EV owner and stakeholders. This includes refining the payment process through FordPass, improving interfaces, and collecting valuable data involving EV charging.

This app that is in the works communicates risks to their connected Ford vehicles with SYNC® by sending the driver in-vehicle screen notifications. Using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) messaging, pedestrians can be detected even when hidden behind buildings, which will come in handy most for city driving. When the app runs on a pedestrian’s or bicyclist’s smartphone, the BLE messaging can promptly alert the driver, detect what form of transportation they are using based on traveling speed alone, and analyze the risk by their detection. Ford’s goal is to increase the sensing abilities of their vehicles to help assist drivers with areas they cannot see when it comes to walking pedestrians or bike riders. This technology will help reduce the number of pedestrian accidents and prove to be useful when detecting construction zones and construction workers.

Ford is now making its BlueCruise technology smarter than ever before.
